Countertops are primarily seen in our kitchens and bathrooms. They are actually the center point of the most used and utilized rooms in our homes. Therefore, you should know your options in choosing countertop materials.

Tiled countertops vary from very affordable ceramics to expensive ones that have creative and colorful patterns and designs. Tiles are fairly durable and easy to maintain.

Laminated countertops are easy to install, inexpensive and have various colors and designs. Laminated counters are made out of layers of papers laminated together. However, they are not durable enough to withstand abuses like hot pots.

Stone countertops are durable, but require stonemason for the installation. The most used stones for kitchen countertops are granite and marbles for bathroom, which can be expensive, although there are alternatives such as man-made or artificial stones that are less expensive.

Synthetic counters that are made from polyester and acrylic are durable and easy to repair. However, they are costly and manufacturers of synthetic counters require licensed contractors for the installation.

Stainless countertops are mostly found in modern kitchens. Also, restaurant kitchens use the same material as they are very durable and can withstand being always wet all the time.

Polished concrete countertops are practically best for modern kitchens, durable and very affordable.

Wood counters are typically installed as built-in cutting boards usually over stainless or concrete counters.
